about me
Essays and cultural commentary by Lolisanam Ulugova - an independent film and theatre producer, curator, and art activist from Tajikistan based in the UK. Exploring art, performance, inequality, and marginalized voices.

My name is Lolisanam Ulugova. I am an independent producer in the fields of arts and culture, a curator, and an art activist from Tajikistan. I currently live and work in the United Kingdom. My writing works have been featured in publications such as Voices on Central Asia, Transitory White, The Diplomat, and others. Through my professional activities, including the creation of films and theatrical productions, as well as the organisation of exhibitions, I express my core values. I am deeply concerned with issues surrounding violence, inequality, and the situation of marginalised communities.
I hold degrees from an educational institution in Tajikistan (1987-1992), the University of Turin and the International Labour Organisation (ILO) (2008-2009). Furthermore, I am a graduate of the Erasmus+ international master’s program Choreomundus Dance Studies: Knowledge, Practice, and Heritage, which involved study in France, Norway, Hungary, and the United Kingdom (2023-2025). Previously, I was a Global Cultural Fellow at the University of Edinburgh (2017) and a fellow of the CAAFP program at George Washington University (2019).
